Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 8, 2026
1. Who we are
OurTruth is operated by Overtone Studios LLC ("Overtone Studios," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use our website, browser extension, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
2. What we collect
When you use the Service, we may collect:
- Account information: email address and name when you register or sign in with Google.
- Claims and URLs: the text you highlight, page URL, and related metadata (for example page title) to evaluate and store results.
- Automatic page URL checks: the extension sends the current page URL to our service to retrieve existing community evaluations for that page.
- Evaluation and usage data: records of claims evaluated, verdict metadata, timestamps, and service interaction data used to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
- Communications: information you provide when you contact us (for example through our contact form or by email).
We do not collect keystrokes or full page content for pages you do not actively evaluate. We may process page URLs to power automatic community overlays.
3. How we use your data
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To evaluate claims, deduplicate similar claims, and cache or refresh results.
- To authenticate users, prevent abuse, enforce our Terms, and keep the Service secure.
- To communicate with you about support requests, updates, and operational notices.
We do not sell your data to third parties.
4. Third-party services
OurTruth uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Anthropic: AI model used to evaluate claims.
- Brave Search and/or Perplexity: may be used for live web search when a claim requires current data.
- Voyage AI: used to generate embeddings for semantic claim deduplication.
- Google: optional sign-in via Google OAuth.
- Railway: cloud infrastructure used to host and operate our backend systems.
- Cloudflare: used to host our website and process contact form submissions.
- Resend: used to deliver contact form messages by email.
These providers process data on our behalf according to their own terms and privacy policies.
5. Data retention
We retain data for as long as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Some cached evaluation data is refreshed on a rolling basis (for example, approximately every 30 days). Account data is retained until deletion is requested or the account is removed under our policies, subject to legal or operational retention needs.
6. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal data. You may also request account deletion. To submit a privacy request, contact us at privacy@joinourtruth.com.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International transfers
Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Data protection laws in those locations may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and may provide additional notice.
